I was asked why I wanted to join the Advisory Team for C.O.O.L? When I was a teenager, I was a volunteer for the parks and recreation department for my local city. We offered summer day camp, youth & adult sports, concerts in the park and many other activities for the “family.” And I emphasize the family part because I felt more at home with this program then I did at my local mosque growing up. Sad to say, however very true. There was a sense of community and comradeship among the volunteers so when Fatemeh approached me with this mentorship program, I jumped at the opportunity to help create a program in my faith for our local community for the next generation. I love working with kids, building connections, and helping our community. advising and supporting the next generation, I wish I had something similar when I was growing up so I decided to give back to the community. 😊
