My name is Carolyn D'Souza (Karima). I have a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Irvine, California. I was not born into Islam but rather found it through my search for God, beginning in about the 6th grade. I have a variety of reasons for my interest in becoming a part of Fatemeh Hashemi's mentorship program: Most importantly to be an outlet for kids and young adults as they go through this crucial time growing up in the West. Typically, having come from families with Eastern and often Islamic values, bridging what may feel like a great disparity in a value system becomes of utmost importance. My interest include reading, studying theology, photography, fashion, travel, hikes, fitness, and spending time by the ocean.
